Thursday 19th May at half 12 Shandy gave birth to a chestnut colt foal. The foal looks identical to Shandy, with a blaze of the same shape running down her nose. The foal appears to be of a good size for a first foal so hopefully will grow to be as big as Shandy to become my future endurance horse. Shandy so far is proving to be an attentive mother and although a maiden mare seems to have all the maternal instincts kicking in to provide her with the correct manner to nursing her foal. Foal is suckling well and Shandy is eating and drinking.
The name we are thinking of is Djelanza. This name is the combination of the grandsires of Bonanza and Djelfor. Her stable name will possibly be Annie for short.
