Rider Profile
Hi, my name is Abbi Tennant, and I compete in the sport of Endurance. I am a Advanced FEI*** British rider in this sport and have been privileged enough to compete my own horses at FEI level as well as for private owners. I have been competing in the sport of Endurance since I was 13, (2003). I have also competed in Show Jumping and Cross Country whilst with the Pony Club in my younger days.
My gran, Delwyn Hall, first gave me the bug for endurance riding. She was highly successful with her mare Rough Close Lady, and competed up to 160km in this country and abroad. She supported me when I first started out with my 13.2hh Welsh pony and continues to support me during my competitions as head of my crew and coach.
I started out on a Welsh Section C mare called Bryndulais Nia who I went up to Advanced level with Nia. I also regularly competed in show jumping and cross country with the South Hereford and Ross Harriers Hunt Pony club.
In 2007, I rode in my first FEI, a 120km*** YR at Cirencester Park achieving 3rd place and gaining qualification for the Great Britain Young Rider Team with Chador. In this same year I went to the Nations Cup in Germany to compete in the 120km*** YR class with Chador. Here we came away with a silver medal with the Team.
2008 saw Chador and I compete for Great Britain at the Young Rider European Championships in Spain. This was over a tough mountainess course with many horses not finishing. We succeeded in completing this tough course as an individualist and came home knowing we'd done well against the rest of Europe.
I currently have two horses of my own which compete in the sport of endurance and one retired mare and her recent foal. In 2010 I started riding for several owners from across the UK and have now gained a successful reputation. This has also given me a higher chance to compete across the country and abroad. Check out all their profiles to see who they are and check out my blog for my latest news on how we all are.
